Halloween History

Halloween is only a couple of days away! So I’m here to inform you more about Halloween. Halloween is celebrated on October 31st. In case you didn’t know Halloween is a tradition originated With the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain. People would light bonfires and wear costumes to ward off ghosts. The word Halloween comes from “All Hallows’ Eve” and it means “Hallowed evening”. Halloween was more common in Maryland and the southern colonies. In the 1900s the immigrants from Scotland and Ireland brought Halloween to America. Costumes started to appear in stores in the 1930s and trick-or-treating appeared in the 1950s. This year Halloween might be canceled due to the virus but we aren’t sure yet. This year Halloween will also be on a Saturday and the weather will be very cold so bring a jacket while trick-or-treating. Have a great and safe Halloween!
