UIL Results

       Wednesday, February 24, we had our 2021 JH UIL competition involving speaking events and spelling. Valley View, Paradise, Boyd, and Ponder are the schools who participated. Throughout the next week, we will be competing virtually in all the other competitions.

       The participants for spelling in 6th grade were Rian Hughes got 4th with a score of 48, Riley Towell scored 5th with a  score of 43, Hannah Mclain scored a 34 , and the alternate was Skylar Kysiak scored a 36. In 7th grade, John Paul Wallace got 2nd with a score of  76, Kennedy Day got 3rd and scored a 67, Brooklyn Estes got 5th with a score of 58, and Jordan Weiland was the alternate and  got a score of 57. The students who competed in 8th grade were Cooper Swink; he got 1st with a score of 73, Taylor Weiland got 3rd with a score of 50, Austin Vanzeudan got 5th with a score of 35, and the alternate was Brooklyn Howard had a score of 60.

       The participants for oral reading in 6th grade were Jessica Norwood placed 1st, Finlee Wyrick placed 2nd, and Kate Simmons placed 4th. In 7th grade, Makson Allread placed 1st, Rylie Rivers placed 2nd, and Paisley Smith placed 4th. The students who competed in 8th grade were Presley Calhoun placed 1st, Sophia Vargas placed 2nd, and Heather Oyenque placed 3rd.

       The participants for modern oratory in 6th grade were Elijah Todd placed 3rd and Elijah Hooper placed 1st. In 7th grade, Taelyn Harrison placed 2nd and Colbie Schreiber placed 3rd. The students who competed in 8th grade were Yaliana Rincon placed 2nd, Xaviera Smith placed 1st and Sophia Vargas placed 3rd.

      The participants for impromptu speaking in 6th grade were Jessica Norwood placed 1st, Levi Rowland placed 6th, Kyra Mahmood placed 4th. In 7th grade, Paisley Smith placed 1st, and Kennedy Simon placed 3rd. The competitors were Willie Norwood who placed 4th and Xaviera Smith and she placed 2nd.
