The Father of Horror

The Father of Horror

Fischer Jonas, Writer/Editor

With Halloween coming around the corner horror movies, shows, books, and music become more popular than ever. But things weren’t always like this, the horror genre was almost nothing before the 1800s. But one man started a trend that lasted years and years to come. That man’s name was: Edgar Allan Poe. He was known to write dark stories and stories that caused suspense beyond imagination, famous stories like “The Tell-Tale Heart” and “The Raven” are pieces that are scary not because they come at you with scares every second, but rather because they set a mood of dread without doing anything intense. The Raven created despair when it talked about losing someone special to you and keeping those emotions contained. Poe was a dark man himself when he lost his wife, and his death was a mystery by itself. Most people thought his stories reflected his life and his emotional problems. He was a person that history should never forget, his writing will exist forever.
