Plagiarizing Or Inspiration?

Plagiarizing Or Inspiration?

Fischer Jonas, Writer/Editor

What is the difference between plagiarism and inspiration? Plagiarism is the practice of taking someone else’s work or ideas and passing them off as one’s own. Inspiration is liking someone else’s work and creating something similar but different in its own way. This is a huge problem ever since the dawn of time, and I’m going to talk about the difference between the two. If I was writing an essay and someone saw what I was doing, then decided to copy my middle paragraph and not say anything, that is cheating and plagiarism. This happens a lot in newspapers, projects, tv shows, especially youtube, and businesses. The problem with youtube is you will find people creating videos off of other people’s videos in a different language. Let’s say a huge thing happens like hurricane Laura. Everyone going talk about it. But let’s say a huge news company sees a small news company talk about it. The big news company may talk about the same IDEA that the small one has. A lot of art is an inspiration to people. So we learned about plagiarism and inspiration, the bottom line is: Don’t plagiarize.
